Terms & Conditions

The Cake Story provides its services to you subject to the following terms & conditions, which you accept by making a booking with me.

  1. All services are provided by The Cake Story and are on an ‘as is’ and ‘as available’ basis with no warranties of any kind. This does not affect your statutory rights.

  2. All details will be held by us in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

  3. The Cake Story will endeavour to do everything The Cake Story can, to accommodate your order; however, The Cake Story work to a maximum number of cakes per week and will not compromise on quality by overbooking. Usually, 6 months’ notice for Wedding cakes is sufficient, but please book early to avoid disappointment.

  4. Cake Consultations are recommended for 2 people.  There is a charge of £30 for this service.  Virtual Consultations are charged at £25 and Wedding Cake sample boxes are charged at £15.  Any allergy's must be advised before ordering to check availability.

  5. While The Cake Story take every measure possible to check orders, it is the responsibility of the customer to make sure the details on the order form are accurate. While The Cake Story will do everything The Cake Story can to rectify the situation when an error is made, the cake will be made as described on the order form.

  6. Once the order is placed the deposit of £100 for Wedding cakes is NON-REFUNDABLE. Where the cake has been paid in full, and The Cake Story has been given 28 days’ notice, the balance less the deposit will be refunded. Where 14-27 days’ notice is given, 50% of the balance excluding the deposit will be refunded. After that no refund is due.  If an order for a celebration cake is taken, the deposit will be 50% of the total.  The deposit again is NON-REFUNDABLE.  Depending upon situation and communication The Cake Story may allow date transfer in certain circumstances.

  7. Prices may be subject to change dependent on outside factors.  If the ingredients and equipment necessary for your cake increase in price from our suppliers or become unavailable, this cost or the cost of a suitable alternative, will be passed onto you.  This will be brought to your attention at our earliest opportunity.  Although this can be as late as 1 week before your Special Occasion.

  8. You are welcome to amend your cake design at any time up to 30 days prior to delivery but such changes will be subject to re-quotation.

  9. The full balance should be paid 30 days prior to a Wedding, and at a time agreed upon booking for a celebration cake.

  10. Having your Cake hand delivered gives us the responsibility of ensuring that your cake arrives in a perfect state and on time. Where any damage does occur, The Cake Story will attempt to repair the damage or ensure that a replacement is received. If this is not possible then a full refund will be given, our liability for such instances is limited to the value of the order.

  11. If you are collecting your cake, you will appreciate that once the cake leaves us The Cake Story cannot be held liable for any damage in transit. Please be aware that a flat surface is required to maintain the stability of the cake and should be secured where possible to remove the risk of movement in transit. If you are unsure as to the best way to transport your cake, please ask our advice.

  12. When preparing some cakes, especially larger ones, the cakes need to be in prep for two to three days before the event. The Cake Story will do everything to ensure that the cake is as fresh as possible, and depending upon the sponge, the cake will be good to eat for up to at least 4 days following the event, contingent to the cake being stored uncut, in a cool dry place.
